Authors Purpose
Elie Wiesel is the author and the main character of Night. Wiesel writes this story to make sure that nobody will ever forget the events of the Holocaust. Wiesel wrote Night to show everybody his experiences specifically as a Jew during the Holocaust and how it affected his faith(Why did Elie Wiesel write the book "Night"?). Wiesel is able to wright his book Night with incredible detail because when writing Wiesel is simply telling his life as a Jew during the Holocaust. During his story Wiesel describes to his readers what it was like to be Jewish before and after he was taken from his home in Sighet. As Wiesel informs his readers of the horrible conditions of the Nazi concentration camps one can only imagine how bad it would have been to be alive during this time. Many times during his story, Wiesel questions his God's existence because of the inhumane things done to him and his family in Auschwitz and later in Buchenwald. Wiesel took it upon himself to write about his story so he decided to learn the French language in order to be able to write about his experiences. Even through all the pain of the Holocaust Wiesel has stated that he can not deny the existence of God from all of his experiences. The book Night is aimed to be a good historical story, yet Wiesel also has a hidden message that even through rough times God is always with you. Night is and will always be great, in 1985 Elie Wiesel was rewarded with the Nobel Peace Prize which reflects how good Wiesel did on all of his work after the Holocaust(Elie Wiesel - Biographical).
